ROBBINS RIB FEST COMPETITION RULES
1. Eligibility
- The Robbins Rib Fest Rib Competition is open to all 18 years of age or older.
- Each team can have no more than four people on their team.
2. Competition Categories
- Primary Category on Saturday: Pork Ribs
(Spare ribs, St. Louis ribs or baby back ribs are permitted)
- Optional Category on Saturday: Any side dish
(Dish must be cooked on the grill or smoker)
- Primary Category on Sunday: ½ Chicken
(Half chicken, leg, thigh, wing and breast must be attached)
- Optional Category on Sunday: Burger
(Must be cooked on a grill or smoker)
3. Meat Requirements
- Teams are responsible for supplying their own meat.
- All meat must be raw and uncooked at inspection.
4. Cooking Equipment & Fuel
- Teams may use grills, smokers, or approved cooking devices.
- Open flames must comply with fire safety regulations.
5. Cooking & Preparation Rules
- All food entries must be cooked on-site during the competition.
- No pre-cooked or parboiled ribs are allowed.
6. Turn-In Procedures
- Turn-in times will be announced prior to the event.
7. Judging Criteria
Ribs will be judged on the following criteria:
- Taste
- Tenderness
- Appearance
8. Scoring & Awards
- Scores will be tabulated by the Event Organizers or a designated scoring team.
- Awards will be given for:
- 1st Place
- 2nd Place
- 3rd Place
- Cash prizes and trophies will be awarded as announced.
9. Conduct & Sportsmanship
- Teams must conduct themselves in a professional and respectful manner.
- Unsportsmanlike conduct, intoxication, or unsafe behavior may result in disqualification.
10. Health, Safety & Cleanliness
- Teams must follow all health department and fire safety regulations.
- Work areas must be kept clean and safe.
11. Sponsor & Sales Restrictions
- Rib Teams may sell food, but no beverages unless approved, in writing, by organizers.
- Beverage sales are reserved exclusively for event organizers and sponsors.
12. Weather Policy
- The competition will take place, rain or shine, except in cases of unsafe conditions.
13. Rule Changes
- Event Organizers reserve the right to clarify or amend rules prior to the event.
- Any changes will be communicated to registered teams.
14. Refunds
- All payments are non-refundable. Rib Fest registrations are transferable upon written approval from the Rib Fest Committee.
